Any alto clarinets? [Mar. 4th, 2005|07:29 pm]

[Current Mood |soresore]
[Current Music |"You Can't Take Me," Spirit soundtrack]

I'm switching from bass clarinet to alto clarinet next year. Does anyone know anything about it?

I know the fingerings are the same as clarinet and bass clarinet.

Any information would be appreciated!

i played it for a year in jazz band. it's basically the same as bass, with a slightly smaller mouthpiece. i sit next to the alto clarinet in my wind ensemble, and their part is generally the same as the bass clarinet, with slightly more runs.

I suppose it's similar to the Contra Alto in the fact it's in a different key...When I played the Contra Alto, you have to re-learn all the scales...But other than that, not much difference, I'd assume
